First thing that really made me think of the saitama's obviously REAL and EXISTING teaching degree (other than whatever the hell he's got going on with genos and the fact that he couldn't get a job before becoming a hero lmao) was the garou fight I'll be honest. In manga. The version before the rewrites. The one where they sit down to talk and it's a cliffhanger. Man. Like it's obviously a "sensei" moment, but for me it honestly gave off MAJOR "okay i guess i can't be pretending like i cant do anything about it anymore, i guess i have to put on my teaching face again" vibes. It's like when you come to visit your family after a long week working at school wrangling children who are screaming and crying and trying to kill each other and steal each other's labubus or some shit, and you are 1000% prepared to leave that behind for SOME time. You just want to spend quality time with the family.
And then your little cousin starts screaming. And then your sister and brother start argueing over something. And then the youngest kid in the family is crying for an iPad instead of playing with the numerous toys around them. And most of the grown-ups, for some reason, don't know what to do about it. Maybe they are used to it. Maybe they also want to relax and not deal with their kids. THEY AREN'T EVEN EXPECTING YOU TO DO ANYTHING.
But your years of practice dog trained you that you can't just sit around when shit like this is happenning. So you have to go around and help everyone. You have to fixe everything. Even if you didn't want to. Even if you are so, so tired. Event if you haven't been teaching for more than ten years.
This is what that scene reminded me off. This is also an exaggerated example. Now peep the screenshot compilation:
the random russian says: "(reading the garou fight agan)" and "that's why he didnt want to teach genos"
desc: saitama talks about kicking ass and i can relate *me making fun of my teaching methods class* here saitama says: 'he can keep up' (about garou). i am simpingsaitama and tatsumaki's dynamic is also very much giving "nooooo don't be a mentor figure to me haha you're so disgusting I hate you". girl trust i've been there
But okay. What made me 100% believe that Saitama has a teaching degree was the Hero Name Victims Association subplot. Because bruh.... As a teacher, OF COURSE you only gain agency and get your will to live back when you get to participate in little "insignificant" political acts!!! This is literally what you were taught to do (be the person who "creates the future", be the "example for the kids") and also what you were STRICTLY FORBIDDEN TO DO (no politics in the classroom, no activism in the classroom, no personal opinion in the classroom). This like therapy. This is like if Eve baked an apple pie and ate it too. Omg, Saitama, honey. Were you also publicly shamed for speaking up against institutionalized abuse in junior year??? Omg come sit with us!!!!!!!!
And finally, the greatest proof Saitama has a teaching degree:
YUM!
Okay! So I think this is all for now. Despite what it may seem like I am very serious about this headcanon. Expect to see it almost every time you interact with my opm-related creations. I really think the main character rejecting his previous life to the point of cutting off maybe the best parts of the life he has now adds a lot to the narrative of this stupid ahh comic.
That is all. The lesson's over, you are dismissed.
ps: notice how I didn't mention Genos once in this article! Ha ha. Well, maybe once. What can I say. I am the biggest Genos ignorer in the world. Right after Saitama, of course. Y'all are not going to be happy when I finally post my essay on them. Mostly because it will freeze your browser of choice with its sheer size
